Rejuvenating Heritage Reviews

July, 2007

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL- Zappa, Tel Aviv's hottest club celebrated its third birthday with an amazing lineup of Israel's greatest performers of the present and the past.

On June 30, Arkadi Duchin performed songs he composed as a solo artists in recent years and as the leader of the very sucessful Chaverim Shel Natasha (Friends of Natasha) group of the late 1980's and early 1990's. His touching vocals and piano/guitar accompanying were classy and tasteful throughout the evening.

Ehud Banai hails from the incredibly diverse and successfull Banai family. He brought his Iranian inflected folk/rock to the club on 7/9. His vocals were passionate and his guitar playing compelling.

Nurit Galron graced the club on 7/12 with her heartfelt and deft vocals. She showed that unlike her often straight recordings, she can sing and scat with the best. A special treat occurred when she invited T.V. and show star Avi Kushner to join her onstage for several numbers, including a raucous duet to Shlomo Gronichs "I Care for the People in Tel Aviv".

Many other great artists were featured over the summer of 2007. Prices are reasonable, the food is great, so why not see who's playing at Zappa on your next trip to Tel Aviv.
