Britton Hill is the lowest of all state highpoints at 345 feet above sea level. I hit this highpoint on the way back to Florida from an Eagles show in Biloxi, MS. I exited I-10 at exit 56 coming northbound on SR 85. It was a good 30 minutes until I reached Florala, AL which, as its name suggests lies on the border of Florida and Alabama. I drove around for at least 30 minutes look for signs to the highpoint or at least Walton County Road 285 which leads to the highpoint. It was not until I was headed home to Orlando that I saw a sign for the highpoint and found it little more than 5 minutes later.
The highpoint is located in Lakewood Park close to the border of Florida and Alabama and is little more than a 30 foot walk from the parking lot. No one else was visiting while I was there, and only one car passed by. Not much to say about this trip except that it was hot and there was a lady in a sombrero selling boiled peanuts along the SR 85, which I found amusing. My car had an easy time of it with this highpoint.
