This highpoint was the first in a series of three that I was planning to visit on my trip to Texas. The drive through the scenic Talladega National Forest was a nice break from the interstate. I came from Atlanta westbound on I-20 to exit 191, south on 431 and then south on 281 to Cheaha State Park. The park is approximately a 15 mile drive from I-20.
The temperature was a mild 80 degrees with no wind. Unfortunately, there was not a great view to behold. The stone lookout tower on the summit was under construction and access was forbidden, so I snapped a few pictures and continued on my way to Oxford, AL to stay for the night. If you look closely, you can see the outline of the plywood warning sign at the bottom of the picture. The Talladega Superspeedway is about a 20 minute drive west from the park (I didn't visit).
