Emanuel Parzen Graduate Research Fellowship Award

Department of Statistics
Texas A&M University

Obtaining a solid research experience is a natural part of graduate student education. Statistics graduate students are increasingly involved in research activities that generate publications and other indications of serious research accomplishments prior to the completion of their dissertation. These activities should be encouraged and recognition of accomplishments beyond the ordinary graduate experience is an important part of this experience.

Thus, the Department of Statistics has implemented an award in recognition of exemplary research activity among our graduate students. By this we do not mean we have created an award for the best dissertation. The department has created an award to recognize research activity that goes beyond what is required to satisfy graduation requirements.
