WORKSHOP ON STRUCTURED MULTIVARIATE DATA
The Workshop on Structured Multivariate Data was held in the Blocker Building on January 14-16, 2016. Sponsored by the Department of Statistics, the Institute for Applied Mathematics and Computational Science (IAMCS) and the Southeastern Texas Chapter of the American Statistical Association (SETCASA). Organizers of the event were Anirban Bhattacharya and Mohsen Pourahmadi of the Statistics Department.
Thursday consisted of lectures presented by David Matteson of Cornell University. Friday and Saturday consisted of presentations from statisticians from the U.S. and abroad including Marc Hallin of the Universite libre de Bruxelles, Belgium.
A poster session and reception was held at the University Club in Rudder Tower on Friday night. The workshop wrapped up on Saturday with a panel discussion on Big Data and Statistics from Val Johnson, Yu Ding, Matthias Katzfuss and Bani Mallick. The event concluded with another reception hosted by Raymond Carroll, Director of IAMCS.
