TECHNOLOGY MEDIATED INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL

ABSTRACT: This talk focuses on the on-going efforts at Texas A&M to develop technology mediated instructional material (TMIM). The principle goal of TMIM development is that the material will benefit both local and distance students. We will discuss the creation, delivery, and gathered student reaction to TMIM. Specifically, we address the features and limitations of streaming video, web-based applets, discussion boards, and conferencing software. We also discuss the utility of these methods under the synchronous and asynchronous requirements of the course.

This presentation will include discussion of user authentication (username/password access to web sites), concept-based programs, student tracking, streaming video, on-line testing, connected applets, and the inseparability of material and instructor.
