  1. Are there any residential requirements?
    At this time, we are only accepting students located in North America.

Questions about the Master's Degree

  1. What are the prerequisites?
    You need two semesters of calculus and a knowledge of matrix algebra. Experience in computer programming such as C++, Basic, Fortran etc. is desirable.

  2. What is the length of the program?
    The MS degree is a 36 credit hour program.

  3. What are the recommended GRE scores for a candidate to be accepted in the MS program?
    There is not a set cutoff point. The GRE scores are used in the overall evaluation. The students accepted so far have all had GRE scores greater than 650.

  4. What is the cost of the program?
    For 2007/2008, a three hour course is $1000 for in-state students and $2000 for out-of-state students.

  5. How do I apply?
    Please go to the Application Process page. Do not use the State of Texas Common Application.

  6. What are the prerequisites?
    You need two semesters of calculus and a knowledge of matrix algebra. Experience in computer programming, such as C++, Fortran, Basic, etc, is nice but not required.

  7. How many hours can I transfer?
    You can transfer up to 12 hours but please see the Transfer Fact Worksheet for more information.

  8. What are the hardware and software requirements?
    PC with Windows. (If you are using Vista, it must be the Business version).
    Internet Explorer 7
    Microphone or headset with microphone - we will email recommendations.
    SAS and R software - available at no cost.
    MS Word and PowerPoint
    Adobe Reader
    Cable/DSL Modem or better - dialup is not supported.

  9. Is there a thesis option?
    The thesis option is not available for the online degree.

  10. Is there a qualifying exam?
    Students take the Methods Qualifying Exam after 18 hours of course work.

Questions about Courses / Certificates


  1. What are the prequisites?
    Each course, including the courses for a certificate, have specific prerequisites. See the Courses page for details.

  2. How many hours are required to get a certificate?
    Four (4) courses of three (3) hours each or a total of 12 credit hours.

  3. Is this an official certificate?
    Yes, this ia a transcripted certificate. This means that you get a transcript which shows the courses you have taken and that you received an official TAMU certificate.

  4. What are the requirements for starting the certificate?
    Four (4) courses of three (3) hours each or a total of 12 credit hours.

 

 

Questions about AP Statistics Training


  1. When is the AP Stat training offered?
    The on-site workshop and associated online portion is offered in the summer. The online version may also be offered in the spring and fall if demand warrants.

  2. Can I receive academic credit for the AP Stat training?
    Yes. When it is offered, you must be admitted as a G6 and be registered for STAT 667. See the    Application Process page for more information on G6 admittance.

  3. Can STAT 667 count towards a degree or certificate?
    STAT 667 will not count towards the Masters Degree but it can be counted towards a Certificate.
