He has been teaching week-long summer workshops for many years all over the country and really enjoys the opportunity to share his love of statistics as well as learn from the experiences of workshop participants.
Pricing
The registration fee of $475 includes all workshop materials, refreshments during breaks, lunches Monday through Thursday and one dinner. Payment instructions are sent after your registration is submitted.
College Board AP Fellows Program: The College Board AP Fellows program is an annual competitive grant program that provides scholarships for secondary school teachers planning to teach AP courses in schools that serve minority and/or low-income students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP courses. The scholarships assist teachers with the cost of attending an AP Summer Institute. The application can be found at the College Board website.
Online applications must be submitted no later than February 15, 2012.
Texas (TEA) Reimbursement: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has an incentive program for teachers in Texas school districts, which allows the TEA to reimburse districts in an amount up to $450 for each AP/IB or Pre-AP/IB teacher attending qualified training. This is usually available to teachers biennially (every other year). Note: TEA has announced that teacher training reimbursements will not be available for the 2011-2012 school year. Please visit the TEA Website for more information regarding their AP Incentive program.
Housing Accommodations
We offer a packaged housing option at a nearby student dormitory. You can choose this option on your registration, and we will arrange these accommodations for you. You would simply need to add the housing package cost to your registration fee.
On-campus option:
Housing is offered at The Tradition at Northgate. Each participant will receive a private room in a fully-furnished two bedroom suite (the private bedrooms lock separately, but share a living space and bathroom). Included are a mini fridge and freezer, microwave, high speed internet access (computer needed), and cable (TV needed). You may bring a TV or use one of the media rooms. Linens, towels, and parking in the garage at Tradition are included. All-star amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, swimming pool, The Edge Cafe, media and TV lounges, group study rooms with Ethernet, laundry facilities, covered garage parking and more.
Parking Note: Covered parking in the garage at The Tradition is included in the housing price. The Tradition is close enough to walk (about half a mile) to the Blocker building, where the Institute is held (click to see a map). However, you may choose to park in the Northside Garage for an extra fee (see parking information below).
Total cost for Sunday night through Thursday morning is $137. This will include a full breakfast each morning at the Edge Cafe.
Off-campus:
Off-Campus housing is available at several motels/hotels located near the campus.
The Bryan-College Station Convention and Visitors Bureau has an extensive listing of accommodations. It also has information about events, attractions, shopping, entertainment and restaurants around town.
If you decide to use accommodations other than The Tradition at Northgate, you will need to make your own reservations.
Parking
For those who choose the on-campus housing option, parking at the dorm is included.
If you are commuting and want to park on-campus, visitor parking is available in the Northside Parking Garage, located adjacent to the Blocker Building where the workshops are held. You pay an hourly rate, which comes to $12-15 per day. You do not need a parking permit; simply pay in the machine on the ground floor of the garage each day when you arrive at the garage.
The City of College Station operates a parking garage located at 309 College Main. It is a cheaper alternative to the campus visitor parking and a short distance to walk across University Dr. to campus.
