Computers and Software

Statistics majors will require a personal computer with access to and sufficient resources to run software like SAS and R. Our recommendation is a late-model full-featured Windows laptop with a SSD drive (at least 256GB of storage space) and at least 8GB of RAM. Mac laptops can also be used; SAS only runs on Windows, but a dual-boot setup can be used with a Mac to get around this. SAS is free to TAMU students. R is free to everyone.
